Week 98: November 10th-16th, 2024
I have only been on the Guy Fleming Trail at Torrey Pines State Reserve, but this week I ventured up to the Visitor Center and the High Point Overlook.
The cold air and incline walk felt good, but it also winded me a little. So, after we got back to the warmth of the car, as any normal person would, I announced that we had to reward ourselves with a little treat. We chose to try Robeks, which is a SoCal juice and smoothie chain similar to Jamba Juice or Nekta. They have a location in Mission Valley, so it was conveniently on the way home from our hike.
The Robeks logo is a cute hummingbird, which I know to be specifically a male Anna's hummingbird (calypte anna). This made me think of my dad and his love of birds. It made me excited for the upcoming holiday season where I'll get to smartly say, "the flying kind," when my dad wonders aloud about what bird he's just seen.
I got myself a medium size, Berry Beneficial smoothie. It had strawberries, blueberries, banana, flax seeds, vanilla almond milk, agave, and raspberry juice. It was pretty good, but definitely on the sweeter side.
I enjoyed my stereotypical hike + smoothie morning and was glad for the opportunity to, as the kids say, touch grass. I often forget how lucky I am to live in such a beautiful place like California, so I want to remind myself not to take it for granted.
See you next week.
