Week 89: Señor Mango's

Week 89: September 8th-14th, 2024

Another week of apartment tours means I have now seen 48 different units since July 30th. I've been keeping track in my Notes app and on a spreadsheet. It's a little ridiculous, especially since I haven't even applied to any yet,

Luckily the heat wave has passed, and walking outside no longer feels like Las Vegas. It is still warm out, however, so after a morning of four tours all around San Diego, I felt like I needed a treat. As I was leaving the open house tour at The Parq, a colorful little building with a line out the door caught my eye.

Señor Mango's would be easy to miss if it wasn't painted with bright murals and buzzing with activity, since its squished in a residential North Park neighborhood.

Thankfully, I didn't miss it, and pulled a quick U-turn to grab a parking spot so I could check Señor Mango's out. I walked past a bunch of cute craftsman homes and a couple apartment buildings on my way over.

Inside, it was very small. I loved the colorful vibe of the painted mural menu on the wall. I'm a sucker for good lettering, especially when its painted. The line went by quickly and I ordered a simple acai bowl with granola. While I was waiting, I noticed a guy in line had Nike dunks in an orange that went perfectly with the Señor Mango's vibe. I didn't get a picture of the guy's shoes cause I didn't wanna be a weirdo, but you can see what I mean on the Nike site here. I was surprised at how heavy the acai bowl was when it was handed to me.

No wonder it was heavy, the bowl was packed full! It was a pretty good deal for ten bucks. It was simple, but very refreshing, and hit the spot after a long morning.

I headed home after picking up my super exciting Target order of tampons, coffee creamer and dish soap. I try to order online and pickup in store when I can to avoid unnecessary impulse purchases caused by browsing inside. It's been an okay effort on my end... I just impulsively "add to cart" digitally now.
