Week 80: More Birthdays + The Hideaway

Week 80: July 7th-13th, 2024
The theme of July is birthdays, and I had a few more this week to celebrate. After a long, busy week at ICANN, I was glad for the weekend to come around and the fun to start. Join me in wishing my wonderful dad, my boyfriend and one of my best friends, Daniela, a very happy birthday!
Daniela is the queen of floral arrangements, presentation and, what I like to call her "cutie pie," picnics. You may remember our Spring Picnics, (see Week 15!) So naturally, for her birthday, she held a wonderful picnic by the Mission Bay Beach Club. We all brought different mats and blankets to sit on (I brought my famous Pouch Couch!) and enjoyed a really nice summer day by the water. I didn't take many photos, but look at this spread!
We enjoyed delicious tiramisu cups made by Daniela's angel of a little brother, and it was great to see After we soaked up the sun, we all took a mini break and went home to change before going back out in Pacific Beach, or PB. PB is always a mixed bag in terms of having a good time, but at least we got to try a new place called The Hideaway.
The Hideaway just opened recently, and seems to have a massive fanbase already. The line outside was crazy, and I wonder if it was worth the wait. The demographic at The Hideaway (and most of the Pacific Beach nightlife scene, honestly) was very Caucasian, with cowboy boots and trendy Tik Tok fashion. It may surprise you, but that isn't really my vibe. Our group was probably the only one made up of a majority of people of color... Despite feeling very "Other", I did enjoy dancing with my friends and celebrating Daniela's birthday. I do want to return to The Hideaway to try their food, because it looked really good. This week, I'm keeping it short and sweet because I'm in a cleaning mood and want to capitalize on this to get stuff done! See you next week.
