Week 140: August 31st - September 6th, 2025

Though I have been told that my restaurant or cafe visit SNEWs are boring (Thanks, mother!) I have once again ventured out to get a smoothie. After a week of busy work days and humid, hot weather, the most I could muster for my Something New was a boring old smoothie spot. Sorry.

I combined a much needed car wash at my favorite Mission Gorge Car Wash, and a quick stop at Home Depot, I dragged my boyfriend to SD Blenders so I could get a smoothie on the way home.

SD Blenders is in a small shopping center that features a Soapy Joes, a Starbucks and a Chilis. The shopping center has a poorly designed parking lot layout, so we had to weave around the Starbucks drive thru line.

It was surprisingly small inside, with the counter being a couple steps from the door. There were a couple items crossed off on the menu, but I settled for a "Three Pointer," as a nod to both the NBA and the WNBA. Plus, it sounded good: non-fat yogurt, pineapple juice, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and banana AND 28 grams of protein.

The 28 grams of protein was nothing compared to the 40 grams in my very expensive and a little odd-tasting smoothie from Nekter back in Week 126, but it was pretty good. It was just what I needed after a long week, and hit the spot in the summer heat.

I did have to pay a whopping $9.45 for a "small" (though I would say it is actually sized more like a traditional medium), so yes, I can confirm that inflation continues to screw us all. I remember when a $5 smoothie from Jamba Juice was kind of a splurge back in high school. Nowadays, that seems cheap.

Apologies again for the potentially boring and ultimately very short SNEW this week. I have a lot of cleaning and errands to do still, and this felt like an achievable goal. In the end, I'm doing these blog posts mainly for myself, and to continue to explore a city (and occasionally others) I love so much.

See you next week.
