Week 103: A couch and some sushi

Week 103: Dec 15th-21st, 2024

Okay, breaking news, we finally got a couch! I would say it is a Christmas miracle, but it really came from painstaking research and patience. The pros and cons of Facebook Marketplace could be studied at length, but this week, pros prevailed when a listing from a random furniture warehouse in Chula Vista popped up. It seemed too good to be true: a grey, soft couch, for $500, that had an ottoman, USB charging, and seemed to be the right size! All it took was a (not-so) quick trip down to Chula Vista to the Furniture Mattress and Warehouse. We paid in cash, and got $80 next-day delivery. I think this was an incredible deal, and the couch nightmare has finally come to an end.

In other news, San Diego's sushi offerings continue to impress at Sushi Ota off the 5 freeway Grand Avenue exit to Pacific Beach. Its a strange location, being squeezed next to a 7/11 and a Planned Parenthood, but the food was great.

I got a Dragon Roll, per usual, and a side of miso soup since its been so cold lately. My friend Syann got a crunchy salmon roll and agedashi tofu.

I'm SO glad this week is coming to a close and I can take a break from work until January. I'm looking forward to going back to the Bay Area and seeing all my friends and family. I don't think I've been back there since February, which is crazy.

Keeping this one short and sweet, cause I've got packing to do!
